Peg Kelley formed her own consulting company in 1996 to pursue her commitment to the power of facilitation and problem solving in helping organizations achieve objectives. She has led engagements with a wide variety of organizations, from large companies such as Boston Scientific Corporation to small businesses such as Accufund. She has facilitated meetings for non-profit organizations including Wellesley Centers for Women and Bottom Line.org. The purpose of these meetings varied from strategic planning to creative problem solving.
As a result of her work with clients and at their request, Peg designed and taught workshops in conducting productive meetings and facilitation skills. Her blog, Meeting Tools and Jewels, was born of a desire to share tips and techniques with clients and anyone anywhere who participates in less than productive meetings! As a result of her work, she was nicknamed the Meetings Maven.
Prior to starting her own firm, Peg spent almost 20 years as a principal with Synectics®, Inc., an international management consulting firm. Her clients included Warner-Lambert, IBM, First Years, VISA International, VeryFine Products, USAir, and many others. Her focus was on new product and service development and engaging consumers and their insights in the invention process. In fact, she became Manager of Consumer Services there after pioneering several new services that drew upon the creativity and experience of customers to refresh corporate brainstorming.
As a spin-off to her work in new product development, Peg and a colleague invented a service to name products and companies that led to names currently on the market in fields as varied as cookies and television programs. Today, she continues working with her colleague and business partner, Pam Moore, in naming at MooreNames.
A native Bostonian, Peg earned her M.B.A. from Simmons College and her B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. She has written many articles about facilitation and meeting management. Her booklets on the subject can be found at this site in the Store section and have sold over 5000 copies already.
Peg loves science-fiction and is writing a novel in the genre with her husband whom she met in an on-line writing group. She is devoted to two nephews, one in the financial industry in Hong Kong and the other earning a doctorate at Carnegie-Mellon, and to a dozen grandchildren.
